Help with Push. Push is in TestFlight testing, so some steps below use TestFlight.
Getting started
- Install Push on the parent's phone. It starts in parent mode.
- Unlock Grown-ups with the phone's Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. Set the rider's name and weekly goal.
- Pick a skateboard or scooter quest and practise together. After each try, the rider picks how it felt.
- As the parent, review what you watched. Reaching Independent unlocks the next quest.
To use a separate device for the child, see Family sharing.
Family sharing
How do I set up family sharing?
- On the parent's phone, open Family settings and connect to iCloud.
- Choose Invite family and invite the child's own, different Apple Account with read and write permission.
- On the child's device, open and accept the share link. Do not create a new family on the child's device.
Joining makes that device child-only: it can practise and check in, but cannot open parent controls.
The share link won't open or does nothing
- Make sure the child's device is signed in to iCloud and has the latest Push installed.
- Open the link on the child's device, not the parent's. Try again from Messages or Mail.
- Check that iCloud is turned on for the device in Settings, and that it has network access and enough free iCloud storage.
Progress isn't showing on the other device
Push syncs when the app opens or returns to the foreground, after check-ins and reviews, and when you tap sync in settings. It doesn't sync in the background, so open the app on both devices and sync. Progress made offline stays on the device until a later successful sync.
Can another adult review mastery?
Not in this version. Only the phone that created the family (the owner's phone) can review. Anyone invited, including another adult, is treated as a child-only device.
Can I change a child's device back to parent mode?
No. Making a device child-only is deliberate and can't be undone from inside the app. Deleting and reinstalling may reset it, but this can lose unsynced data.
Game Center
How do I connect Game Center?
On the child's device, open My wins → This device & sync → Game Center and connect. Confirm the account shown is the child's own Game Center player, not a parent's. Parent phones never connect to Game Center.
Game Center won't connect
Apple account, age, Screen Time and Game Center restrictions can prevent connection. Push doesn't bypass them. Achievements also work inside the app without Game Center.
Progress and data
How does XP work?
A quest earns 10 XP per local calendar day, not per tap. Every attempt still appears in the journal. Parent reviews don't change XP. A later review can lower mastery, which can lock the next quest again. Changing time zone or the device clock can change how days are grouped.
Can I export or delete my data?
Parents can export the family's data as JSON from Parent settings. Deleting the app removes local data on that device. Records saved to iCloud stay in your iCloud account until you remove them there, and revoking a share doesn't erase copies already downloaded. We hold no copy and can't delete it for you. See the privacy policy.
The app says my data can't be read
If the local data file can't be read, Push stops writing rather than resetting it. Please email us before deleting the app so we can help you recover it.
